Servaroyan temple

Shevaroy temple or Shevaroyan Temple or Servaroyan temple or Shevaroyan Temple Situated at the highest point in Shevaroy hills, the Servaroyan temple is a beautifully carved cave temple. This temple is famous for the festival, which is organized here by the local tribes in the month of May. The festival sees a huge turnover of local people. The Orchidarium at the beautifully maintained botanical gardens is on the way.

A Malayalis tribal temple dedicated to Lord Servarayan also known as Ramaswamy. It is located in a narrow and dark cave on the tallest peak (5,342) on the Servarayan mountain. The annual festival held in May is very popular and attracts thousands of Malayalis pilgrims. The mouth of the cave is built up like a Hindu shrine. The God Servarayan and Goddess Kaveri representing the Servarai Hills and Kaveri River respectively are seated in the temple.

The temple is a narrow and dark cave having the god Servarayan and the goddess Kaveri inside, which the Shevaroy hills and the Cauvery river. On the way to Shevaroy temple, there is the famous bear's cave believed to be an escape route of a long gone raja (king) when he was attacked and fleeing.

This is the third highest range in this part with a modern cave temple at its top. The hill top is bald with a real open view of all the hills around. It presents another angle of the distant town. The adjacent hill is gradually chopped (mined) off daily as it is a very rich source of bauxite.

While the tourist spots in and around Yercaud provide fantastic views, this goes one up - literally! The Servaroyan temple is a modern cave temple located on the third highest range in the area "The Servaroyan hill" and offers a bird's eye view of the places around.
